A Love Beyond Time : A Pdf Tutorial

Description

Have you ever wanted to hand make a pendant with a bezel and put all kinds of little objects into it and then freeze them in time, in a crystal-like surface?

Well … I have! I’ve been thinking about it for a long time.
And each time, reality would hit and I would remember … “Darn!! But I don’t solder or even own a torch! How in the world am I going to make that bezel?”

Lately, I have been really really wanting to make that bezel. So I decided one day, I’m going to think … think, think, think, and come up with a way to make a NO-SOLDER bezel that is as good as one of those soldered ones. I want this bezel to not only hold little fragments of timeless objects, but to be able to hold ICE Resin securely as well!! And I want to make it with WIRES!!

Now the question is, how do you keep Resin in a bezel that’s made out of wires? Surely the resin will all leak out in no time. Well, I think I’ve found a way :)

“A Love Beyond Time” is a No-Solder Mixed Media Bezel Design that I am really delighted with. Like my no-solder birdhouses, this is especially designed for people like me, who wants to create a piece which conventionally can only be realized with fire and solder, but do not want to do it the conventional way. This project should be easy peasy for those of you who have had some experience in dabbling with mixed media and jewelry-making. Fearless beginners are invited to take this up as a challenge! I will guide you along using 90+ images and descriptive text from the beginning to the completion of this project. The techniques that we will be looking at include :

1. Simple metal working
2. Working with epoxy clay
3. Many uses of acrylic paint
4. Working with resin
5. Alternative ways to use a 3 Dimensional Gloss Medium

But most interestingly,

6. Creating a beautiful and unique bezel from scratch without the use of fire or solder

Although this was written as a whole-listic project :) but each different technique that I share here can be practiced individually and applied separately to your future projects. For instance, once you’ve watched how easy it is to work with epoxy clay, the possibilities are endless … you’ll see :)

The tools that I own are rather ‘primitive’. I sometimes use garden shears like a metal cutter, I don’t own a metal hole puncher so I make holes on metal with a pointy thingy and a hammer. And these are some of my little quirky innovations that I’ll be sharing in this tutorial with you too :) You don’t need loads of professional tools … all you need is imagination!

I am open to answering all your questions pertaining to this tutorial. If there are any parts you don’t understand, or even just to get certain confirmations on a thought that you might have when trying out this project, please convo or message me. I will answer your questions as best I can.

The one request that I have is, please do not share the content and instructional photos of this tutorial in classes, on the net, or on any social networking, photo or blogging sites. You may however, sell a similar piece but please give credit to Luthien Thye for design if you do.
