Rusting w Vinegar, Salt, Air by luthien27 Rusting w Vinegar, Salt, Air by luthien27
I'm so excited! I managed to rust these ordinary iron washers into beautiful pieces of art! NO harmful chemicals were used, no electrolysis process ... just cooking vinegar, salt and good ole AIR!

I am already thinking of ways to include these in my mixed media art and journal covers :)

If you are interested in how it's done ... there is a simple tutorial in my blog, complete with a video of the rusting process (sped up) and you will see how simple it is to make your own rusted items. And what's more ... it only takes a couple of days to create rust like these ;)

here's the link :

ENJOY!!

Very nice indeed :) You can do something similar to copper with ammonia and salt. You'll end up with a gorgeous blue patina.
