Star of Earendil

The shining light that was carried into the skies and placed beyond the reach of the world by Earendil the Seafearer, father to Elros the first King of Men, and Elrond the last Elf to leave Middle Earth. It is the light from the Star of Earendil that lead the way for Frodo Baggins when all lights went out on his quest to safe Middle Earth.

The Star of Earendil is quite unlike what I usually make, yet it is not I that wield it, it is the Star that unveiled itself to me. From the layers of ornate carvings and brass gear that laid on top one another, to the storm grey stone chosen to sit at the centre of its being, to the arrow-like needle made from clay and copper that pierces thru the heart of the Star, the Star of Earendil, was true to its nature … it led the way to light.

The Star is made from various ornate filigree pieces, copper, brass and rusted metal washers, a piece of vintage brass gear, brass wires handformed and augmented by fire, antique brass fndings, faceted glass beads and a piece of storm blue Picasso Jasper. The copper arrow that pierces thru the heart of the stone resembles a compass needle, thus paying tribute to Earendil as a Seafearer.
